Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography

Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography is a merge of chemical-biological and geographical departments. The educational process today is provided by four departments: biology, chemistry, geography, physical education and valeology.

Mode of study: full-time, part-time.

Facilities: 7 chemical, 8 biological and 6 geographic laboratories, 5 teaching and study rooms, 6 specialized lecture rooms, computer teaching and study room. In the learning process, an educational research agrobiostation, a research base “Forest Lake” in the village of Yaduty (Borznyansky district), scientific laboratories are used. Students of all study areas of full-time mode of study have also the opportunity to improve their knowledge while conducting field trips across Ukraine.

Scientific activities: teachers, postgraduates and students of the faculty take part in university, regional, Ukrainian national and international conferences. Each year, the number of students’ scientific works increases, graduates of the faculty receive recommendations for admission to postgraduate studies and compete successfully with graduates of other higher educational institutions. Each year the faculty hosts republican and international scientific conferences, scientific schools.

Students of the faculty take active part in social and cultural life of the university. For a long period of time the faculty’s sport team has been holding the first position in different competitions.  The famous alumnus of the faculty, the participant of the Olympic Games is V. Ihnatenko.

Departments of the faculty cooperate with scientific establishments of  Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences:  the Institution of Bioorganic and Petrochemistry, the Institution of Organic Chemistry, Chemistry Institution of macromolecular compound,  the Institution of Pharmacology and Toxicology, the Institution of Botany named after M. Holodnyy, the Institution of Zoology named after I. Shmalhauzen, National Nature Museum, the Institution of Geography, the Institution of Carpathian Ecology,  Kyiv National University named after T. Shevchenko, Vitebsk University (Belarus), Gomel State University named after F. Skoryna, Black Sea Biosphere Reserve, Ukrainian Steppe Nature Reserve, Luhansk Nature Reserve and regional landscape nature parks (Mizhrichynskyi, Kinburn Spit) and with a number of national parks.
